How Navyn handles your information

What Navyn does

Navyn is a personal financial companion. It can identify upcoming bills and subscription renewals from a connected Microsoft Outlook inbox, organize derived obligations into a timeline, and use financial profile information you provide to support purchase decisions.

Information Navyn processes

Account and provider identifiers

Navyn creates an internal user identifier and associates it with Microsoft account and tenant identifiers supplied through Microsoft Graph. These identifiers link your account, provider connection, and stored records. Navyn’s current backend does not persist your Outlook email address as the account record.

Outlook messages

When you ask Navyn to sync, the service reads supported fields from messages in your Outlook inbox through Microsoft Graph, including message subject, sender, recipients, and body text. Raw message content is processed transiently to detect financial facts and is not stored as raw message content in Navyn’s database. Derived results and operational sync records may be retained.

Financial and decision information

Navyn stores derived financial obligations, such as merchant, amount, currency, due date, status, confidence, and source references. It also stores financial profile data you enter, including income and discretionary-cash values, and purchase-decision inputs and results used by the coaching feature.

Purchases and subscriptions

For App Store subscriptions, Navyn processes and stores hashed transaction references, product and subscription status, purchase and expiration timing, App Store environment, verification results, and entitlement state. Apple’s StoreKit and App Store services also process purchase activity under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

How information is used

Navyn uses this information to connect and sync your selected provider, identify and display financial obligations, generate requested purchase guidance, maintain account sessions, verify subscription access, restore purchases, prevent duplicate or conflicting purchase claims, and operate and secure the service.

Storage and security

Navyn’s backend and PostgreSQL persistence are hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure. The service uses authenticated sessions, owner-scoped records, encrypted transport for production endpoints, protected OAuth token storage, hashed session and App Store transaction references, access controls, rate limiting, and logging designed to redact sensitive values. No internet service can promise absolute security.

Retention and deletion

Account, derived financial, decision, activity, session, and provider records can remain in Navyn’s systems while the account is active. Exact publication-ready retention periods require confirmation by Navyn’s operator.

You can request account and data deletion in the app from Settings → Privacy. After confirmation, Navyn removes required Outlook credentials and deletes the account and its ordinary owner-linked Navyn records, including financial-profile, obligation, purchase-decision, entitlement, activity, provider, and session records. Navyn-owned local preferences and session data are cleared only after the server confirms success. Limited hashed App Store transaction, ownership, and notification records are reassigned to a non-authenticating deletion tombstone for transaction replay and reassignment protection; they are not kept as an active user account.

Disconnecting Outlook is different from deleting your account. Disconnecting removes the Outlook OAuth tokens and ends that connection, but it does not delete the Navyn account or previously derived financial, profile, decision, and activity records. Use in-app account deletion when you want those Navyn records removed.

Advertising and tracking

No advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking behavior, advertising identifier use, analytics scripts, cookies, or data-broker sharing were found in the current Navyn repository. This statement describes the audited software evidence; it is not a promise about future versions or third-party services outside Navyn’s control.

Your choices

You choose whether to connect Outlook and when to initiate a sync. You can disconnect Outlook, manage or cancel an Apple subscription through Apple, restore eligible purchases, and delete your Navyn account and data in the app. Deleting a Navyn account does not cancel an Apple subscription, issue a refund, or change Apple’s purchase records.
